Faculty of Air Navigation, Electronics and Telecommunications - over 60 years of engineering education, 4 departments, 30+ educational programs and international recognition
The Faculty of Air Navigation, Electronics, and Telecommunications is one of the key engineering faculties at the Kyiv Aviation Institute, combining education, research, and industry collaboration in high-tech fields.
The faculty’s history dates back to 1962, and today FAET trains specialists in the fields of air navigation, avionics, telecommunications, electronics, IoT, automation, robotics, and unmanned aerial systems.
Education at the faculty is based on practical training, modern laboratories, certification programs, international opportunities, and partnerships with leading technology companies.
FAET is an environment for those who want not just to study engineering, but to create real technological solutions for aviation, telecommunications, security, and the high-tech industry.

The history of FAET originates from two related technical schools — electrical engineering and radio engineering. The founding of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1956 and the Faculty of Radio Engineering in 1962 laid the foundation for the formation of the modern Faculty of Air Navigation, Electronics and Telecommunications.
By orders dated August 9 and 22, the first 50 students were enrolled in the electrical engineering specialty at the Mechanical Faculty of the Kyiv Institute of Civil Air Fleet (KI CAF).
Due to the rapid development of radio equipment, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering was split into two separate entities: Radio Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The Department of Theoretical Foundations of Radio Engineering was established, which remains the oldest department today (currently — the Department of Electronics, Robotics, Monitoring Technologies, and the Internet of Things (ERMIT).
On May 27, 2009, the Faculty of Air Navigation, Electronics and Telecommunications (Institute of Air Navigation) was established. It included 3 graduating departments: Air Navigation Systems, Telecommunication Systems, and Aviation Radio-Electronic Complexes, as well as the Department of Aviation English.
The faculty was joined by 3 more graduating departments: Electronics, Aircraft Control Systems, and Radio-Electronic Devices and Systems. The faculty expanded into a full-fledged educational and scientific center.
FAET is developing within the National University "Kyiv Aviation Institute" as a modern engineering faculty in the fields of air navigation, avionics, electronics, telecommunications, IoT, 5G/6G, robotics, and unmanned aerial systems. The faculty is updating its educational programs, creating new laboratories, developing professional certification, and strengthening cooperation with industry and international partners. Today's FAET combines scientific schools established since the 1960s with practice-oriented engineering education.
